MECP Cumulative Effects Interactive Map

The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has updated the ministry’s website to post the Cumulative Effects Assessment in Air Approvals interactive map. 

The Cumulative Effects Assessment in Air Approvals Policy decision was posted to the Environmental Registry in April, 2018 and came into effect on October 1, 2018. This policy strengthens and clarifies the consideration of cumulative effects when making decisions related to environmental compliance approvals and indicates when additional measures may be needed beyond current regulatory requirements.

Included in the policy was a commitment to publish an interactive map in order to help businesses see where the cumulative effects policy applies, which will inform any environmental compliance approval within these areas.

Ontario is taking action to reduce air pollutants and ensure cleaner air for future generations. Publishing an interactive map is part of our Made-in-Ontario Environment Plan commitments to protect Ontario’s air by , ensuring we have strong environmental standards that are protective of human health and the environment, and taking action to enforce local air quality standards.
